Cross-Cultural Communication for Social Change

The Cross-Cultural Communication for Social Change is a two-week program in collaboration with Purdue University. In this program, students will use public spaces to solve problems relating to both their immediate environments and foreign environments. They will investigate how public space is understood, utilized, and practice ways in which to collect and disseminate information cross-culturally. The activities include a workshop in Lima and a trip to Cusco.

Week 1 in Peru : Iteration and low-fidelity prototyping; Teamwork; Critical Thinking. Methodology: Critique

Week 2 in Peru : Reiteration and construction; Intercultural communication and competence, Methodology: Empathic Design Thinking

Cost of the program

The cost of the program is USD 630 per student. This fee includes:

Flight ticket Lima-Cusco-Lima

Train to Machu Picchu

Entrance ticket for Machu Picchu ruins

Accommodation in Cusco

Workshops in Lima

Important: A minimum of 10 students will be required to complete the group and develop the program in Cusco.

Application Process

Selection

We seek the most promising UTEC students in terms of motivation and personal qualities and contributions. A total of 10-12 UTEC students will be selected for participating in the Cross-Cultural Collaboration for social change program. The Committee of Selection bases the evaluation considering the following criteria and aspects:

-Motivations for participating in the activities

-Fluency in English

-The level of communication and soft skills

General rules

-A minimum of 10 students will be required to complete the group and develop the program in Cusco.

-A certificate of participation will be issued to the students that complete all the activities described above.

-Selected participants are required to accept or denied the vacant.

Applicants who are not selected will not be contacted.
