CITA: Water Research and Technology Center


CITA is a platform for research, training and educational outreach to ensure the efficient and sustainable use of water. The Water Research and Technology Center aims to be an exemplary center for research and education concerning water issues at a regional and global level.

Research at CITA focuses on environmental fluid mechanics, hydraulics, sediment transport, fluvial geomorphology, geographic information systems, environmental remote sensing, hydrochemistry, hydrology, hydrogeology, hydro climatology, ecohydrology, ecosystem management, wastewater treatment, and aquatic ecosystems.

CITA has developed research projects funded by different national and international institutions, such as Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Aquatera, the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE), and Senamhi, among others. Likewise, more than 10 partnerships have been achieved with academic institutions, government agencies and non-governmental agencies, such as Columbia University, Smithsonian Institute, Wildlife Conservation Society, Senace, district municipalities, and the Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation, among others.
